Building Code of Australia
The Building Code of Australia (BCA) is 'a uniform set of technical provisions for the design and construction of buildings and other structures throughout Australia whilst allowing for variations in climate and geological or geographic conditions'.
Buildings which are required to satisfy the requirements of the BCA must meet the requirements of the BCA Section J for energy efficiency and the objective is 'to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by efficiently using less energy'.
Section J reports are required for commercial buildings (Class 3 to 9) as part of the Development Application process to demonstrate the ability of the design to comply with the BCA.
